Girlfriends Getaways to Healdsburg

Healdsburg is a fabulous destination for girlfriends getaways! It's easy to design a getaway that is a perfect fit for your girlfriends because there are so many fun things to do. 

Plan ahead...pick your dates way ahead and have everyone ink it on their calendars. Once you nail down the dates (finding dates that work for everyone can be tricky) let your girlfriends know what Healdsburg has to offer and to decide where to stay. Hotel?  B&B? Vacation Rental Home? Healdsburg has them all!

Lodging:  It's nice to have a place to call you own for your Girlfriends Getaway. Rent a house so you can have gab sessions in your jammies till the wee hours and relax together in a private hot tub.  You probably don't want to be out in the boonies! Pick a place that is close to shops and restaurants so you aren't spending a lot of time in the car. Before making your reservation, get the street address and check the distances on google earth or mapquest. Location is everything--in Healdsburg, you want to stay within a few minutes of Healdsburg Plaza. Then everything you want to see and do is nearby.

Food & Beverage:  Your getaway doesn't have to be a budget breaker. Eat some meals in...even if it's just breakfast and snacks. My girlfriends like to do 3 night getaways...two nights we eat in and one night we make our favorite thing for dinner--reservations! Someone is assigned to bring breakfast stuff, 2 people each do an easy dinner, we eat all lunches out, and someone brings munchies. Everyone brings what they like to drink! We're wine country women so of course we bring wine...but we found out those big bottles of premixed drinks are very good? Can you say Mohito and Margarita? Oh yes! You can have everyone total up what they spent, add it up and divide by the number of girlfriends! Done!

Retail Therapy:  Shopping in and around Healdsburg is the best! Check out Susan's Basement...a cool outlet just off the Plaza. A group of girlfriends who stayed here (Healdsburg Country Gardens) all bought rhinestone studded baseball caps at Bella. Take a look at the black and pink sparkle caps pictured above! I added one to my "hat collection" purchased mostly at Bella. Ooooo...don't miss Options just around the corner from Bella. My Healdsburg girlfriends and I just love these two shops--they are our favorites!  Healdsburg has an array of shops that do the job when it comes to retail therapy!

Gourmet Gals: Got girlfriends who love to cook? Healdsburg has stores filled with gourmet goodies including the Red Paprika with Hungarian spices, sauces and more. There's a wonderful kitchenware shop on the Plaza and shelves packed with gourmet goodies at Oakville Grocery.

Wine-loving Women: Got wine? Yes we do! There are over 100 wineries within thirty minutes of the Plaza. And, there are 18 tasting rooms on the Plaza.  Don't schlep wine to Healdsburg...buy it here! A free wine road map is your guide to area wineries.    

Fit Friends: Healdsburg is a walkers town--do the historic homes self-guided walk. Get the map at the Visitors Center. Healdsburg is also a great place to jog, hike, cycle and canoe. Check out Wine Country Bikes and  Rivers Edge Kayak and Canoes. People watching is my favorite sport--just get a coffee and plop on a bench in the Plaza.  

Spa Seekers: Visit spa websites and see which one looks like your kind of place. Our guests have had good things to say about these two : A Simple Touch and  Akoia Day Spa.

Girlfriends Fun and Games: Bring books, videos, cards, mah jong ... you'll probably be out and about or way too busy talking to use any of these things...but why not bring them along just in case! I don't know about you and your girlfriends...but on my girlfriends getaways there's a whole lot of talking. We should hire a listener!

Healdsburg is a gem for girlfriends getaways! Your getaway is about spending time together and also doing what you want.  In Healdsburg, everything is just minutes away so you don't have to be glued at the hips.
