Roads and River...Bike, Hike and Paddle - Russian River Kayak and Canoe Trips

Paddle the Russian River in Healdsburg

The Russian River runs through Healdsburg headed for the Pacific Ocean at Jenner. The river is a  recreational resource Healdsburg is lucky to have. There's Memorial Beach ( a county park) with a swim beach and places to picnic and barbeque and Rivers Edge Kayak and Canoe Trips. For our family, it isn't summer unless we take Russian River canoe trip. We wear bathing suits under shorts and tee shirts, water shoes (like Keens or Tivas) and hats. We take food, drinks and sunscreen.

Take a look at what Rivers Edge offers--they have three self-guided trips April through October. Decide which trip you want to take and make a reservation. The half day trip is about 5 miles long and has about 2-3 hours of casual paddling. The whole day trip is 11 or 15 miles with 4-6 hours of paddling. The river flows slowly, is safe, and dogs are welcome!

Rivers Edge and Memorial Beach Park are located about a mile south of Healdsburg Plaza. The photo above was taken standing on their beach where the canoes come in. The bridge is a railroad bridge not in use at this time.

All the trips offer beautiful places to swim, fish and picnic. As you paddle along, you'll see an abundance of wildlife such as turtles, osprey, herons, wild ducks, hawks, deer and fish.  What a great way to have fun in the outdoors with your family and friends.
