A "taste" of happenings all through the year...

January  Winter Wineland  -  join over 100 wineries during this slow time in the vineyards and chase those winter blues away. Over 100 wineries in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River valleys will open their doors and share their warm hospitality with you.  Meet winemakers, sample new releases...and even a few library wines.  Enjoy discounts on last of vintage wines and other event specials. Winter Wineland is a Wine Road Event.

 

February  Wild Steelhead Festival     Respect, restore and celebrate wild Steelhead in Sonoma County. This community event is held in Healdsburg Plaza on the first weekend of February. Educational exhibits, a trout pond for young anglers, cooking demos, a live steelhead display and shuttles to the fish hatchery at Lake Sonoma. And, that's not all--there is a local art show, wine tasting and music make this weekend event appeal to all ages. The goal is to increase awareness of this threatened species.

 

March  Barrel Tasting - your chance to get into the cellar and taste wines directly from the barrel at over 100 wineries!   Like what you've tasted, then buy it now as "futures".   Talk to winemakers, vineyard managers and growers at each winery you visit.  Get their inside scoop on the upcoming vintage, while it's still in the barrel. Barrel Tasting is held the first two weekends of March and is a Wine Road Event.

 

April   Passport to Dry Creek Valley is an annual event showcasing the wineries, vineyards and exceptional beauty of Dry Creek Valley. There are over 62 wineries and 150 growers in the Dry Creek Valley, producing a variety of wines to please any palate. Wineries up and down Dry Creek Valley celebrate the magic of their valley with wine, food, entertainment and the hospitality for which Dry Creek Valley is famous. Dry Creek Valley Winegrowers sponsor this event.  

 

May  Healdsburg Farmer's Market    Farmers truck their fresh, seasonal, and sustainably-grown produce to town from farms mostly within 10 miles of Healdsburg Plaza. A wide variety of fruits and vegetable are available as well as cheese, honey, olive oil, bread, wild fish, pasture-finished meat, and fresh eggs.

 

May/June The Healdsburg Jazz Festival starts at the end of May into the first week of June. Jazz venues are the Raven Theater and local wineries. It's about new performers, rising stars and straight-ahead real jazz like it's meant to be played, full of joy, soul and creative spirit.  

 

June   Tuesday Nights on the Plaza    Free concerts in the Plaza plus the Healdsburg Farmers Market--what a great combination that makes Tuesdays special in Healdsburg summers. Locals and visitors flock to the Plaza on Tuesdays for the Farmers Market which starts at 4pm and the concert from 6 - 8pm. Bring or buy food and wine and plop on a bench, blanket or chair you've brought along.  It's all happening at Healdsburg Plaza...the best place to stroll in the wine country.

 

July Harvest Century Bike Tour  Pedal through the heart of Sonoma County Wine Country. Bicycling Magazine listed Sonoma County as one of "The 7 Greatest Rides on Earth" Distance options include 60, 37 or 23 miles. Road and mountain bike riders will enjoy this moderately challenging ride. Come up for the day or spend the whole weekend. This bike ride has been happening in mid July for over two decades.

 

August  Grape to Glass  Get set for outstanding Russian River Valley wines, hands-on vineyard and winery experiences, and regional cuisine amongst unforgettably beautiful scenery.  Hosted by the Russian River Valley Winegrowers.

 

September and October  Grape trucks haul truckloads or grapes to crush pads at wineries and fall is in the air. Look at the Wine Road Event calendar and take your pick of the amazing number of happenings at wineries during these gorgeous fall months.  

 

November Wine & Food Affair  - an extraordinary weekend of wine and food pairing at 80 wineries throughout northern Sonoma County.  Claim your new "Tasting Along the Wine Road" cookbook when you check-in for the event, then sample those recipes paired with wines at each winery you visit. The Wine Road presents Wine & Food Affair the first weekend of November.

 

December  Wine Country Christmas   Kick off your holiday season on the Friday evening after Thanksgiving. The Wine Country Christmas Party is a downtown holiday celebration with twinkling lights, music and open house in the shops. This free event from 5 to 9pm is held around the Plaza.
