Make the Most of Your Time in Healdsburg ...24 hours to explore Healdsburg
Kick off your visit to Healdsburg by using the suggestions in the "3 hours to Scope out Healdsburg" blog. Make a dinner rez for this evening. See "Think Dinnertime" below...
Now that you've spent 3 hours scoping on the Plaza, had a bite to eat and visiting a family owned small winery in the Dry Creek Appellation (a grape growing area) -- what's up for the rest of your 24 hour day in Healdsburg? Arrange the segments below depending on the time of day and how you like to spend your time. Use these ideas as a jumping off point! Here's the good news about Healdsburg-- no traffic jams and everything is close by.
3 more hours - why not visit a winery in two of the other Appellations surrounding Healdsburg. Take along your handy Wine Road map. If you don't have one, pick one up at the first winery you visit or at the Healdsburg Visitors Bureau. All wineries mentioned are on the Wine Road map.
Head to Alexander Valley and go to Fieldstone Winery. Savor the wines and soak up the scenery. You will see why this area is called "America's Tuscany." You will see lots of wineries and may want to visit more in Alexander Valley. Pace yourself! You also want to visit a winery in the Russian River Appellation during your 24 hour day in Healdsburg. When you are heading back to town on Highway 128, you'll go by Jimtown Store. You must stop and check out this charming country store where you can also find "fun stuff" and great foods. Jimtown is owned and operated by Carrie Brown, a well-known wine country chef.
Russian River is the other appellation you want to visit during your 24 hour stay. Just south of Healdsburg Plaza, you'll find some of our favorite small wineries: Foppiano, Acorn, Limerick Lane and Christopher Creek. If you love "old vine reds" -- you are in heaven!
Think Dinnertime: You've been around the Plaza, visited wineries in three different appellations--now how about a dinner to cap off a wonderful wine country kind of day. Our three fav restaurants in Healdsburg are Zin, Cena Luna and Willi's Seafood. If you don't have a rez, try Willi's Seafood -- we love the place and they don't take rez. Love the Lobster Rolls! We have a wealth of wonderful restaurants which makes it hard to choose just one. Now, that's a nice problem to have...
Stay in lodging close to the center of Healdsburg so you are not spending a lot of time in your car! Do you prefer hotels, motels, B&Bs and private vacation homes & cottages? It's always best to have reservations for lodging and one-night only lodging can be a bit harder to get...especially on weekends. Reserve ahead so you have a worry free day and a great spot to stay during your 24 hours in Healdsburg.
